[…] Extending through the villages of the Alsace, the wine route passes many vineyards and wine houses. Wine has been with us thousands of years, so there’s hardly anything more cultural is there. But dotted though that region are some of the most incredible villages in France. From Eguisheim to Kaysersberg, to Riquewihr, they are all half-timbered delights. Why not follow my day trips to Kaysersberg and Equisheim. […]

That’s a tactic that would definitely work. As long as you remember where you parked when tipsy.

It was. There’s a monster of a castle nearby too waiting for me to visit. Hopefully I can do that next time. If the wine doesn’t ground me.

What a beautiful area! The villages are so pretty and characterful. I'm with you about storks too - have a real soft spot for them. I would love to follow the wine trail, but as you point out, the designated driver issue is a problem. My solution is to park up in different spots along the route in the camper van and then use the bikes to visit the vineyards! Hopefully I won't fall off 😊

Wowza! Love this! The towns remind me of Beauty and the Beast! Your pictures are fantastic! I didn’t know places like this actually existed! Also - I’d like to hear about your Prosecco breakfast in Italy 🤔

We loved Colmar but didn't have time to visit these other beautiful towns. They are definitely on the list after reading your post though. I'm not a fan of sweet wine, I think it brings back bad memories of my younger days drinking Blue Nun and liebfraumilch :)

Beautiful villages, I like the storks, too. I wish I could hear more about this prosecco breakfast incident. And of course you climbed something and photographed some great views. You've outdone yourself with the photos of the half-timbered houses ❤
