Truly impressive and helpful site, John! Your photos are fantastic!

I am traveling to Meteora in September with my grown sons and plan to stay 2 1/2 days. I think it would be more realistic for us to strive to see just four monasteries, those being great Meteora, Varlaam, Saint Nick, and the holy Trinity. Just wondering if you know the best way to see two a day for the two days that we will be there? in other words, which two would pair nicely together?

We will be there on a Thursday arriving in the afternoon through Sunday departing to Athens. So the only day to worry about is Friday when Varlaam is closed.

Thank you in advance for any help or insight you can provide.

In reply to <a href="https://carpediemeire.com/2020/01/12/visiting-meteora/#comment-4270">James</a>.

You’re welcome. Hope it’s of help. My preferred lens for architecture is a super wide, here I was using an 11-17mm tokina with a Nikon d5300. I’ve since switched to a Nikon 10-24mm, it’s even better. Super wides give you a unique perspective when shooting architecture and of course are good for landscapes too.

Ah amazing! Always wanted to visit Meteora! Looks like such an incredible looking place. It looks like there's no way up to the monasteries but Indeed there must be!

I missed this post the first time. Having seen these on old 80s Greek tourism posters, I never knew there were so many monasteries and just how beautiful they are inside. Greece is looking more appealing every post I read.

I never made it to Meteora when in Greece, and what a shame. The sunset is spectacular, and I like that you added the dress code. People forget these are holy places.

What an absolutely incredible experience. I have also had Meteora on my list for a while, ever since I first saw it in pictures. I still can't believe places like this actually exist in the world.
