Taking my Hat off to Hatvan Hungary
A travel diary about getting it wrong Sometimes travel is what you expected, and sometimes it isn’t. Often you expect the world of somewhere, and it disappoints. Then there are others you want to avoid like the plague, but can’t figure out why when you get there. One such place is Hatvan Hungary.
Things to do in Oradea in a Day
Oradea is a city near the Romanian-Hungarian border. I visited it more or less by default, but I’m delighted I did. The city centre is a delightful place of secession architecture, beautiful churches, and pedestrianized streets. These are the top things to do in Oradea in a day.

Exploring the World Heritage Site of the Hungarian Puszta
We visited the Hortobagy National Park on a day trip while staying in the Eastern Hungarian city of Nyiregyhaza. It is Hungary’s first and largest national park and was given UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1999 due to its rich cultural history and presence in folklore.
Why we chose Nyiregyhaza, Hungary for our summer vacation.
