Meet John and Beata
Hi, we are John and Beata.
We are a Dublin based couple, with a huge passion for travel and day trips.
John is a street art hunter, castle lover, road tripper, sightsee till he drops, street food fanatic, occasional solo wanderer, and hiker. He’s the adventurous one and eternal optimist.
Beata is a market lover, shopper till she drops, foodie who never forgets a good meal, by far the better cook, sunset and cloud lover. She’s the more cautious one, who knows when to slow right down and relax.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but we meet right in the middle and craft trips making the most of everything. Partnerships (and marriages) are all about compromise after all.
John is originally from Ireland, from a small town called Longford.
Beata is Hungarian but has lived in Ireland for 15 years. She is from the city of Nyiregyhaza in Eastern Hungary. No, I had never heard of it before either.

I’m a bar and operations manager at a boutique hotel in Dublin. But besides that I love to travel.
My story is an odd one though, my parents had an aversion to travelling or so it seemed, so my first passport only graced my hand at the age of 18. I stumbled through a few teenage party holidays, and a summer in Chicago, and by my mid twenties the travel bug had not yet infected my brain.
But time and experience change us all. It’s that latter word that I feel drives me now. Experiences. The thrill of something new. The awe-inspiring sights that nature and man have placed around each and every one of us. They are in every far-flung corner of this planet, but also within touching distance.
Why I blog.
There’s nothing I like to do now than talk, live and love travel.
It’s the relentless hunt for new experiences, that led to this blog. And a desire to share mine with others.
My travel is primarily focused on Ireland and Europe, with a sharp emphasis on history, culture and the great outdoors. When I’m not walking streets on a city break, I’m seeking out the best landscapes on a road trip.
One of my greatest loves is photography. I am constantly snapping or editing. I am rarely seen without a camera of some form in my hand. This beautiful world must be captured. Sharing some of this photography through my blogs is an important goal.
These are the driving forces behind this blog. To share my love of all that Ireland and Europe offers the part time traveller. And to try and squeeze in a little humour along the way.
The latin expression carpe diem sums me up perfectly. I always endeavour to seize the day.
Remember you can’t always make new experiences, but you can always make more money. Get out there and travel.
